When the Provided Interface Falls Short
Ice To Go operates a network of self-service ice cream vending machines. Along with the technology, however, the client inherited vendor systems that were not designed for convenient and reliable operation on the European market.
Information about the machines, orders, and their operations was fragmented across several confusing interfaces. Some features did not work reliably, the control was complicated, and the system did not provide a solid foundation for further network expansion.
Therefore, this was not just about creating a better-looking admin panel. It was necessary to bring key data and processes under control.
A Custom Platform Built Over Manufacturer Systems
First, we mapped out the operation of the vendor systems, their data sources, and available APIs. Using a dedicated service account, we then designed a custom integration layer that communicates with the manufacturer's technology and translates its data into a unified, stable format.
On top of this, a new platform is being built specifically for the needs of Ice To Go and future operation on the European market.
It gradually unifies the following in one place:
- overview of machines and their online status,
- orders, payments, and sales,
- temperatures and other operational data,
- products, prices, and display content,
- device connectivity information,
- remote management and auditing of performed operations.
A Stable Layer Between Operators and the Manufacturer
The new architecture isolates users from the technical limitations of the original solution. Access credentials to the manufacturer's systems remain securely on the server and are not exposed in the browser.
Data is synchronized into our own structure so the platform can offer faster and more consistent control while better handling outages or future changes to the vendor's API. Sensitive remote operations are designed as controlled and auditable commands.
Prepared for European Operations
The result will not be a mere translation of the original Chinese administration interface. We are building a standalone product tailored to local users, their daily workflows, and the continued growth of the entire network.

The Project Continues
The project is currently in active development. We have mapped out key data sources, verified the connection to vendor systems, and designed a custom integration API along with a unified data model.
Now we are gradually transforming the technical capabilities of the machines into intuitive screens and workflows that can genuinely be used in daily operations.
